We should mention that the event was speculated last month when a report in BuzzFeed News claimed that Apple is planning to launch its own news subscription service. Another rumour that has been circulating online says that the Cupertino-based technology giant is planning to unveil a Netflix-like streaming service. It is worth noticing that in the last few months, the company has made a number of content deals and these include the ones that involve the creation of shows. In fact, some of the shows like Carpool Karaoke are already available via Apple Music. However, some are not available yet and these are the ones for which Apple has made deals with celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, M Night Shyamalan and Steven Spielberg.
We should add that Apple’s plans for launching a news service are very likely, as they are completely in-line with the company’s acquisition of news subscription aggregator Texture. So, we wouldn’t be wrong to expect the service to launch on March 25. Some reports about Apple’s upcoming news service claims that publishers are not very happy with what the technology giant is offering them in the deal. Apple reportedly plans to claim half of the proceeds of the subscription fee that will cost users $10 per month. Only the other half will be given to publishers, and that too will be based on how many people read their stories. So, the launch of Apple’s news service on March 25 is completely based on whether or not the company has settled this disagreement with publishers. We personally think that the launch of both the services is possible, but we are definitely not expecting the event to be focussed on hardware.
