Facebook Dating includes user-integration with Groups and Events on the social media platform and encourages people to meet in public. But for its test in Canada and Thailand, Facebook has added some new functions. An interesting addition is ‘Second Look’ that enables users to reconsider a dating decision they made previously. According to The Verge, users can now also pause matching if they are no longer looking to date. Also, you needn’t install a separate app for Facebook Dating. It is a feature inside the main Facebook app itself. Facebook believes that by adding new features during these tests, it can get more people to sign up and make Facebook Dating’s user base swell. It wants more people to come to its app and look for a match using its service, the report further said. Although it was first rolled out in September, the internal testing of the service began in August when Facebook asked its employees to create dating profiles with fake data. Facebook plans to delete all of it before it rolls out its feature to public. As of now, the feature is only being tested in select countries with users who are at least 18 years old. It is free of cost and does not have any advertisements or premium features. Personally, considering Facebook’s history of data leaks, we would not want it to have this additional information about us, especially because there already are other apps available for the same purpose.
